Nature's Best Yoga Mat. Made with natural rubber, the Jade Travel Mat is Jade's lightest mat. At 1/8 inch thick, it is great for travel or for those who like closer contact with the ground. 68" is the standard length and 74" is the extra long, for taller yogis.
Jade mats are made with natural rubber from the Far East and Western technology to form a mat that is perfect for your yoga practice. The Travel Mat is Jade’s lightest mat, and--at 24-by-68-by-1/8 inches (W x H x D)--is easily transportable and great for those who like closer contact with the ground. As Jade mats are made with open cell, natural rubber, you can say goodbye to slipping on your practice mat--even if it gets wet with perspiration. Natural rubber’s superior slip resistance properties ensure a solid grip every time, and additionally provide resilience, compression set resistance and cushioning, resulting in a solid blend of comfort and performance.
The natural rubber used to create Jade mats is a renewable resource containing no PVC or ozone depleting substances, and the mats are made in the U.S.A. in compliance with all U.S. environmental and labor laws. Jade believes in being good to your body and good to the Earth, and--through a partnership with Trees for the Future--when you buy a mat, Jade plants a tree.

The PROlite (formally called Purplelite) Travel Mat from Manduka is designed for high performance, but in a lightweight version that's great for taking on the road. Ideal for yoga and Pilates practioners. It travels as easily to a nearby yoga class as it does to a yoga vacation retreat. Like all of our mats, the Prolite Travel Mat is designed for performance, longevity, and comfort. Its surface resists slipping when wet from perspiration, its firmness resists bunching and remains flat even when practicing on carpet or with sticky feet. Unlike most other mats, the Prolite Travel Mat has a specific top and bottom surface. These mats have been designed to last a lifetime (or two). The 71-inch Prolite Travel Mat is 24-inches wide by 71-inches long by 3/16-inch thick and weighs approximately 4.5 pounds.
I bought this mat for three reasons: 1. I was hoping to find a mat on which I wouldn't slip as much, 2. I needed a slightly thicker mat than the one I'd had (no idea what brand, just something cheap I picked up at a yoga studio), 3. I didn't want toxic chemicals leaching or out-gassing from my mat. On all accounts, I'm basically happy. This is definitely a heavy-duty construction and I believe it will last a lifetime, even of daily use. The material is really dense, not squishy, but it does cushion the joints very well. The mat is not super-light, but I carry it to and from the studio with no problems (unlike the Black Mat, which is really heavy!). It also really stays put on the floor - doesn't slide around or bunch up at all.
I've learned that NO mat is completely slip-proof, if you're sweating a lot while you practice. However, I only slip on this one if I'm sweating a ton, and just wiping my hands with a towel is enough to stop the slippage, on the rare occasions when it happens.
Even though the mat is PVC- and phthalate-free, it did smell like chemicals when I got it (that's normal, from the manufacturing process). I washed it immediately with Dr. Bronner's hemp soap, which got rid of most of the chemical smell. I've washed it a few times since, used it constantly, and now it doesn't smell.
Finally, I love the shade of purple that it comes in, it's not very pink-ish, instead it's more of a blue-y purple. In all, I highly enjoy this mat and recommend it to anyone who wants to buy just one mat, tote it around, and use it forever.

I have the Black Mat Pro. I do love it. It'll last me a lifetime. I bought this one as a gift for a friend. Now I have to admit I want one as well. It's just lighter and more portable. So I'll leave the Black Mat Pro for home use and take the ProLite on the road. I am a yoga teacher, so these mats won't be parked in a dark corner. But I won't have to keep buying mats like I used to in the past....I have about 6 now and I use them for students.
This mat is pricey, but well worth it!
